“Maddison” was out of our Group Winning sable bitch "CH. HIGHLEDGE IDLE
GOSSIP" her sire was "Am/Can. Ch. Jade Mist Memorandum" ROM ROMC. She
had a gorgeous eye and expression, a beautiful outline, charisma and a "LOOK AT
ME ATTITUDE" so reminiscent of her dam.
For Maddison’s first breeding she was bred to "HEADMASTER"; we kept a
beautiful sable bitch. Her name is BPIS HIGHLEDGE LOOK WHO'S TALKIN’
(she was our FIRST BEST PUPPY IN SHOW WINNER).
She was then bred to "AM/CAN/CH. CLASSY TRESTA BRONSON ROMC" this
time; another beautiful sable bitch. Her name is HIGHLEDGE TALKIN'
TRADITION (She is the dam of IRISH CREAM).
In the summer of 2004, Maddison was bred for a final time. Although she only
whelped ONE puppy, she was a beauty. Her name is MULTIPLE BEST PUPPY IN
SHOW CH HIGHLEDGE TALKIN' OUT LOUD.
Maddison was not shown again after she finished until
she was a VETERAN; then she and Shirley Perry
teamed up and Shirley guided
Maddison to many All Breed
and Speciality Best in Sweeps, and
wonderful Best in Speciality win.
They were amazing to watch in the
ring. There were only a few times that
I showed Maddison after she finished, however we are pictured
(right) at the CSSA Speciality (in the Sweeps Ring) in June of
2009. (Shirley was unable to show to this Judge on this day) We
went on to win BEST VETERAN IN SWEEPS.
Maddison is pictured (left) at nine
years old on the table at the
Canadian Collie & Shetland
Sheepdog Association Specialty
where she went on to win BEST OF
BREED. (picture below the table
photo) Her beautiful grand-
daughter BPISS BPIS CH.
HIGHLEDGE WILD IRISH ROSE,
was Best Puppy in Speciality.
Maddison maintained her quality
throughout her life. She was truly
one of the GREAT ONES!
Maddison made her last ring appearance at the CSSA National in May
of 2012 at the tender age of 13 (pictured below). It was just 6 1/2
weeks before her passing. We knew at the time, that she was very ill
but we wanted to give her one last time in the ring if she was up to the
task. We entered her and agreed we would see how she was the day of the
show. You can see by the look on her face, she LOVED every minute. When
I published the above photo, I had a number of people ask, why did
everyone looked so sad, and Maddison looked so happy, my answer was “We
were so sad because we knew it was her last “go round” and she was so
happy because she got to do it ONE MORE TIME”
Thank you Maddison for a lifetime of memories, the contributions that you
made to our breeding program and to our lives are IMMEASURABLE.
